Joanna Garmon (she/her) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Berlin, Germany since 2019. As the first person in her family to return to Berlin from the U.S. since her jewish relatives were forced to flee the city in 1939, her work explores how personal and collective memory are inscribed in both the body and the urban landscape. Rooted in painting and expanding into installation and performance, her practice examines family history and place, investigating how identity and generational trauma are carried and transformed through embodied experience and artistic practice.
